“There’s nothing elaborate about this,
it’s just a perfectly standard polythene lunch
box. You can put leaves into that, and they won’t
get crushed. If you’re just using a loose bag
and you have lots of bags and other things, the
samples could get crushed. I also carry a collection
of pots and vials and different-sized tubes. If
we find something that’s quite small and it’s
on a single leaf, we can put one single leaf into
a small tube.”—
