Here you see the space shuttle Columbia on the pad the day before launch. The two beige stone pathways are the roadway for the giant crawler that transports the shuttle from the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) to the launch pad. You can see the cubical VAB, 3 miles away in the distance.
