The Caves

Las Cuevas (translation: “the caves”) is so named because of the nearby cave system, probably the largest in the Western Hemisphere. These miles of passages beneath the limestone plateau extend all the way to Guatemala (about 16 km/10 miles away), and are home to several species of bats and an untold collection of other organisms.
