Mayan Road

This isn’t just a pile of rocks. It’s the remains of an ancient Mayan highway. Mayan civilization rose in this area in about A.D. 250, reaching a population of about 2 million before its unexplained decline in roughly A.D. 900.

The Las Cuevas area is rich with Mayan relics, including what’s left of this ancient stone temple in nearby Caracol.
